Albany

Hopefully not much longer.

I’ve lived here for most of my life, and haven’t traveled much.
Trying desperately to get out.

Nothing too exciting. Dilapidated buildings and litter on the ground everywhere. Extremely slow-paced living.

Might be fine for a visit, but as for actually living here…
Most people don’t really want to live here…people just tend to…get stuck here.

Worth visiting!

Historical City

One of the key cities in the Civil Rights Movement.

People from Albany include Ray Charles, Dr. Bernice Johnson Reagon founder of Grammy winning Sweet Honey in the Rock, Alice Coachman first black woman to win an Olympic gold medal, Super Bowl MVP Deion Branch, Paula Deen TV Chef and cookbook author, Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom host Jim Fowler, and Albany is the “second home” of grammy winning diva Patti LaBelle.

City was featured in W.E.B. Du Bois’ The Souls of Black Folk as a typical African American rural town in the South.

I lived here for almost two years. Had some decent times, but it wasn’t the best moments of my life. The lack of cultural sophistication didn’t help.
