I attended a session of the House of Delegates, the lower assembly of the Maryland legislature.

The building is awesome. I would like it as my house (although State Circle is only one lane; it’s rather small). It’s all marble inside, and there’s a massive painting of George Washington resigning his commission as Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army on the stairs.

The Maryland State House, built in 1772, served as the U.S. capitol from 1783 to 1784, and is the oldest state house still in legislative use (according to the sign in front of the building). We visited on a Saturday and got to tour the building, including the (surprisingly tiny) assembly rooms used by the state house and senate.
