Lakeland

Sure it is the point-center of Florida, but this place couldn’t get any shittier!

I am a Florida native, born and raised in Lakeland. I don’t live there any longer, but it is and always will be home.
There aren’t a lot of things to do here, especially for a young person. But I promise you will always be welcomed here, because people are on the whole generally pretty nice.

Grew up here, love it and miss it!

I just recently discovered this place and now I am hooked! I love Mexican food, but the only place I have ever eaten it at is Taco Bell. (And who doesn’t love Taco bell?)

One Saturday night, my boyfriend asked me where I wanted to eat and even though I had never ate there before, I suggested “TapaTio’s.” I could tell he wasn’t too thrilled with my choice and asked me about 3 or 4 times if I was sure that I wanted to eat there.

Usually, I would have changed my mind and suggested one of the “usual” places we always go to, but nothing sounded good to me and I was starving!

As soon as we were seated, the hostess brought us a huge basket of “chips & salsa.” I’m not a big fan of that usually, but it is starting to “grow on me” now that I’ve had it a few times.

We ordered Nachos & Cheese for an appetizer and from the very first bite, I was hooked! When the waiter brought it out I thought to myself that maybe I had made a mistake when I suggested trying this “real Mexican restaurant!”

The cheese was white instead of the usual yellow color I was used to and it did not look appealing to me at all! But, I was really hungry and I was the one who wanted to eat here, so I pretended like I didn’t notice and I ate one.

O my God! I don’t know if it was the cheese or the meat, but these nachos tasted absolutely fabulous! By the time we finished eating them the waiter was bringing our food.

We were both stuffed by now and before he could even sit the food down, I asked for a “ToGo” box! He didn’t look surprised at all! He said lots of people do!

The portions were unbelievable! All of the entrees come with rice and beans and the plates they serve it on are GIANT!

The next morning when I woke up, I started craving food from there. Now, whenever I get hungry, “TapaTio’s” is all I can think about! I eat there all the time now, except I get a “kids meal” instead of a regular size entree. It’s half the price and more than enough!

If you have never had the pleasure of eating authentic Mexican cuisine, you gotta go to “Tapatio’s”.....(It’s almost better than sex!) :)

Lakeland is nice I suppose. It’s not home and yet it’s exotic either. It’s not small and it’s not to big either. It’s a preety nice place to land in if you are in the area.
