The Gorge, and the three Dave Matthews Band concerts I saw there in 2008, we unbelievable. They made me appreciate the beauty of nature, and they made me appreciate the band more than the other 15 times I’ve seen them combined. It’s a magical place.

If you’re willing to part with $30, you’re much better off parking at the Wild Horses Campground than actually at the campground at the venue.

I would recommend that you get seats for this venue. The hill is fun with a big group, but the view and sound can get bad near the top. The reserved seats are great, and you can see the sunset great from there. Just go and lay on the grass hill before the band comes on to get the GA experience.

The setting is really beautiful. Some actual bathrooms probably would have been better than all of the portapotties, but they weren’t as bad as they could have been. The noodle place had decent veggie teriyaki. The service throughout the festival was ridiculously slow, though. It shouldn’t take 20 minutes to get a hot chocolate (and it just tasted like water). There’s no real organization at the booths and people just crowd up to the front and you may never be served. They said that professional cameras weren’t allowed on the web site, which apparently includes my camera because it has a removable lens. They also didn’t mention on the web site that digital cameras wouldn’t be allowed. People with tarps and coolers were sent back even though nothing on the site said that they wouldn’t be allowed. When I was there it hailed on everyone and hurt like a bitch. Those tarps would have come in handy.

Overall, the scenery’s beautiful and if you’re there for a show you want to see you’ll enjoy yourself, but the people running the place are assholes.
