Worth visiting!
A perfect day or weekend getaway
Try visiting Lake Arrowhead several times – during different seasons.
Hiking in spring, sunning yourself in summer, fall colors, Christmas Village and snowplay in winter. Antiques and crafts shopping year round. No spectacular dining.
The drive up the hill alone is worth the trip – if you are the driver and enjoy driving. Passengers tend to get scared and/or carsick, so be nice to them.
Take a lake boat tour. Don’t expect to hear or underdstand everything the captain says. He has said it so many times that certain words and sounds have been worn out. They really ought to make a recording to save him – and you – the pain.
Look into the rentals for a weekend or a week. There are some nice ones on the golf course away from the tourist bustle of the lake proper.
There are semi-public tennis courts at the UCLA center. Just show up and play – if there are no students, nobody will bother you.
There is an Olympic ice skating training facility (a rink) nearby at Bluejay.
Big Bear is 1/2 to 1 hour away depending on the weather. That’s where skiing is in winter.

This is such a cute town. My husband and I went for a wedding and stayed at the Lake Arrowhead resort and it was so beautiful inside and out. There was snow already on the ground and snow falling. It was winter so there was not any lake activity that we did but the view was still beautiful. The town was cute and had a lot of nice stores for shopping. The drive up the mountain was a little scary at night but it was worth the trip. We are going back again this winter and we don’t even ski!
