A review of this place: I live here...

I recommend visiting but I wouldn’t move here if I were you. It’s quite boring as there is no night life. Everything pretty much shuts down by 9pm and nothing is open till 10am. The Olde Towne Walkers Mall is definitely a good visit and we just got a new museum built, The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley. It’s a good place to visit. My grandpa has an exhibit there now but it’ll be gone July 17th.

Jim Barnett Park is good place for walking as well with a big duck pond. But as I say, I wouldn’t move here if you’re looking for small town life. The population is growing rapidly and we’re becoming like Sterling and Leesburg. They keep developing and we’re getting packed in like rats.

The Apple Blossum Festival is big draw for people but I’ve always hated it myself. Traffic is horrible all weekend so you can’t really go anywhere. The parade is boring and if you really need to see it just watch channel 6, as they cover the entire thing and even replay the next day if you missed it.

Well, that’s my review.

But.... :-)

Negatives: This is a small town that tries it’s hardest to have a city attitude. Houses cost a lot and the jobs don’t pay enough to afford them. The night life is pretty nonexistant unless you like trying to hang out with the college kids who really don’t like the locals.

Positives: The air is clean, it’s safe to walk the streets at night (in most cases), there is a social crowd here for almost anyone! Oh, i almost forgot, I live here!!!

Work here...

charming little town! The Old Town Walking Mall on Loudoun St. is one of the neatest places. I agree with the other poster though…watch out for highway signs…a million different roads come together here.

beware the little signs behind trees

The worst part about Winchester is that it’s a junction point for many different routes. You can find directional sign posts with 6-7 different route numbers on it. If you aren’t paying attention it’s easy to get lost. Aside from that, the Apple Blossom Mall is quite nice and there is a lovely historic district. One of these days I’ll make it down there for an Apple Festival.
