Emporia

I pulled out of a well-lit gas station, and stopped at a well-lit red-light. It was nighttime, and I forgot to turn my headlights back on when I turned out of the gas station. I got pulled over 10 feet from the gas station, and was given an $85 ticket for forgetting to turn on my headlights. What a joke. I’m sure Emporia is a fine place, but this even just put a grudge in my pocket :)

I wanna go here cause it’s a bo-hunk, southern town where my classy friend Edie grew up… I’ve seen videos from her Homecoming Dance… twilight zone of big hair and dodgy accents… VERY cool.

None of the photographs uploaded for Emporia, VA, seem to actually be from Emporia, VA. When I go back home I’ll try to get some good pictures to share (there’s no Emporia State University in Emporia! The only higher education place we’ve got is the Wrenn Campus Without Walls branch of Southside Virginia Community College).

‘Speed trap capital’, indeed! It’s probably not the best place to be as far as tourism goes, but there are nooks and crannies worth seeing.

The Virginia Pork Festival is held in June.
The Greensville/Emporia 4-H Livestock Show and Sale is held in August.
The Peanut Festival is held in September.
