A beautiful ball park, possibly my favorite of the new ones. Its right on the river, and from the ballpark, you can see the yellow Roberto Clemente Bridge as well as the city skyline. The game is a very enjoyable experience with all the pirate-themed things like mascots, and all that. I especially liked the pirate ship battle on the big video screen right before the game and the seafood restaurant on the concourse (thats what pirates eat, right?). Very enjoyable experience and I look forward to going back.

The first time I went to PNC Park was opening week. What a thrill. It was like the count down till christmas just to go. When I first moved to PA. going to a Pirates game at Three Rivers Stadium was a big deal but to attend the new state of the art stadium was something else. And now a few years later it is still just as impressive as the first time.

Went tonight and saw the Pirates beat the St. Louis Cardinals! It’s also close enough that we can even walk to the stadium from our apartment (with the kids, even)!

it’s no three rivers, but nevertheless very beautiful.

just went in may.

i recommend going on fireworks night. they were the nicest fireworks i’ve ever seen! they close down the bridge and set some off there, and they also set some off of the roof of the highmark building. it was amazing!

Beautiful park! by Robyn

This ballpark was one of my favorites on the mini baseball tour I just completed. It’s a beautiful, fairly new park (2001) with a fantastic view of the Pittsburgh skyline and Roberto Clemente Bridge. You can walk along the Allegheny River before heading in to your seats and see some pretty fountains and even a memorial to Korean War veterans.

The park itself seems small, but the fans pack it in making the place come alive. You’ll also find every imaginable concession stand (I noticed more nacho stands here than any other park I visited).

BTW, Pittsburgh has great fans. They actually WATCH the game! Many people around me were keeping score or teaching their kids what was going on… nice to see.

Also, there are fireworks displays every Friday night. If you go, try to get tix on a Friday… better yet, try to catch the 2006 All Star Game there!
