Chatsworth is known as the Palace of the Peak District. The grounds and house are stunning particularly the formal gardens near to the house.

Take time to walk round some of the grounds and see some of the follies and oddities including the fountain disguised as a tree.

The farm shop is worth a visit to for all sorts of edible goodies.

It’s a great place to take a picnic and chill out on a fine day.

Finally visited this summer. It was great! So much to explore – all the different gardens, the house itself. It was a lovely day. And for a P&P enthusiast it’s very appealing too!

Chatsworth by weathergirl

I went a couple of days ago. Every room is filled with fascinating things and has such stories behind them, and the gardens are, I think, some of the best I’ve ever seen.

We had to get out “Pride and Predjudice” that night as it was used as the set of Pemberly. It’s actually said that Jane Austen went there and her descriptions of Pemberly are in fact of Chatsworth. They had a section in the sculpture gallery about the filming, and they were displaying the dress that Keira Knightley had worn for the scenes.

Spectacular Fountains and Magnificent Landscape! by DianeO

Recently used as a location for the new film of “Pride and Prejudice”. Admission price of £9.50 is for both the house and garden – well worth it as it is easy to spend up to five hours here! Also at Chatsworth are a gift shop, farmyard, garden centre, farm shop (very expensive hampers!) and restaurant.

One of the Greatest of All Great Houses! by DianeO

Of the dozens of historic “Great Houses” enriching England’s countryside, Chatsworth, the centuries-old home of the Duchess and the late Duke of Devonshire, is one of the most impressive.
