Edmonds

Edmonds is becoming a cool place to visit. They’ve got the Puget Sound waterfront, a bunch of great places to eat. The nightlife is also getting to be really good. So far I’ve been to Rory’s and the Taki Tiki Bar and I’ve enjoyed myself quite a bit at each place.

I visited my aunt there last summer…

Short ‘n’ sweet: Considering a relocation to Edmonds. A few questions:

(1) Seems local wages are low, and better ones can be had in Seattle or Lynnwood. Is this true?

(2) I loathe headache commutes & traffic tie-ups. To minimize that, where in Seattle should I work? North Seattle? Other areas offering easy Edmonds-Seattle commutes? How about Sea-Tac?

(3) How’s the Edmonds-Lynnwood commute?

I’m moving to Washington and seeking a smallish coastal town between Tacoma and Bellingham. It must have these features:

1. Sense of community and social outlets, especially for a “middle-aged” single gal.

2. Affordable and reasonable rents, including pet-friendliness for a dog will be accompanying me

3. Good job opportunities

4. A vibrant vibe

5. On or near water

6. A well-defined downtown with a vibrant vibe, bookstores, cafes

On the No List:

7. Insane commutes

8. Snobby snotty moneyed attitude

Seems from my research that Edmonds meets most of these criteria. Does it? If not, which? And what other coastal towns would you recommend? I like Bellingham (and Boise, Idaho too), but Bellingham’s a little farther north than I’d like at this juncture.

Practically consider myself from there, though I grew up in Shoreline. My ideal place to live would be Edmonds. It’s gorgeous and close to everything you want or need.
