The first time I went to this place
was to take my son’s girlfriend so they could get married before he shipped out on his first deployment. They had a courthouse wedding, then he left two days later. While he was at sea, the tsunami hit and his ship was one who supplied water and humanitarian aid.
I’m headed back in a couple of weeks to stay with her till their baby is born, because he will be at sea again.
Oh, did I mention he’s in the Navy?

A tip I have about this place
Two words:
Storage Units.
Yeah, it’s a totally crappy suburban Seattle wannabe city. But I was born and raised there, so I have a soft spot for it for sure. Just wanted to point out the practice space for many of Everett’s thriving, weird, underground artists. The local music scene there is pretty complex and interesting, and you can hear everything from screamola crap to virtuosic guitar playing at the Storage Units where everyone in Everett who has a band practices.
It’s really a rather interesting little networky web.

Everett Pros and Cons
OK, Everett-ites, I’m 49, single, self-supporting, starting life anew and moving to Washington. Relocation-wise, it’s a toss-up between Edmonds and Everett. Convince me why I should, or shouldn’t, move to Everett.
I love being by/near water. Edmond’s well-defined downtown area, with cafes, bookstores or the like—which Everett seems to lack at present. Sources tell me though that Everett’s poised to become “the next place.”
I like Everett’s position away from Seattle but close enough to partake of its offerings. Seems the commute, if one were to live in Everett/work in Seattle, could be a nightmare, which is hugely offputting.
Rents in Everett vs. Edmonds—don’t know. Which between them has more job opportunity and higher wages? Also don’t know.
All factors under consideration as I make the choice. (I don’t exclude Bellingham either, though it might be a tad too far north at this point.)
Everett: Good work? Place to live for a “middle-aged” single gal? I welcome all partial and impartial input! Thank you.

Applied for a job there once
Met some nice people, but I don’t think they thought I was outdoorsy enough for Everett.
