Question: What's Lynnwood like?  — 2 years ago

I’m moving to Washington state and looking to reside in a smaller community between Tacoma and Bellingham, and would love some feedback. Here’s my short list of wants and no-wants:

    1. No to Seattle, Tacoma or any large cities. Been tehre done that.

    2. Yes to a town about the size of Bellingham that’s coastal. (Ruling Bellingham out at the moment; just a tad too far north.)

    3. I don’t do even semi-insane commutes.

    4. I like a well-defined downtown area with culture, cafes, bookstores and a vibrant vibe.

    5. A town with social outlets suitable for a 49-year-old single gal.

    6. REASONABLE SANE rents. And pet-friendly as I’ll be accompanied by a dog.

    7. Ample work opportunities.

    8. Safe without being suburban staid and suffocating.

    9. Bellingham … Boise … places like that but closer to Seattle but NOT Seattle, and preferably far enough north to be out of that city madness.

Does this describe Lynnwood? If not, where? Kirkland? Redmond? Edmonds or is that too yuppie-hoity toity? Would love to hear ideas, pros & cons of Lynnwood and general input. Thank you!
