Sasebo aka: 佐世保市

They hate Americans here…

Such a neat place. Would love to go back.

Visited this place a number of times while I was based in Yokosuka, Japan. The reason I have fond memories is because of the old Japanese guy on the mainland who would announce “Werrcome to Sasebo!” on a loudspeaker every time a ship entered the harbor.

Truth is, there are better places in Japan to visit—but Sasebo’s not a bad starting point to get to all those other places (the Navy gave me a free trip there, so I took myself the rest of the way to all the more interesting parts of Japsn).

Wonderful people, nice little city. That is if you’re not in the US Navy.
