One of my favourite Paris museums  — 5 months ago

Definitely pay the entrance for the gardens as well – they’re just as interesting as the house. I’d also advise people to do a bit of reading about Rodin and his sculptures before visiting – I couldn’t take my eyes off ”Burghers of Calais” but it was only afterwards that I found out the story behind the sculpture.

    Gardens  — 11 months ago

    Worth visiting!

The gardens of the musée Rodin are the best part of the museum and the entrance fee for just the gardens is one euro. The gardens include a flower garden, the rose garden and the sculpture garden, which includes his most famous works including Le Penseur (the Thinker).

A tip I have about this place  — 1 year ago

Go here when you’re starting to get worn out from your travels. You can go through the museum and then sit in the gardens and relax a bit. It’s better than just staying in your hotel room for the day.

Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 2 years ago

    Worth visiting!

This museum is so perfect…..it’s small enough to see it all (not at all on the same scale as Lourve or Musee d’Orsay – which are also incredible). The GARDENS are what make this place a spot to return to again & again. The gardens are gorgeous & filled with Rodin’s sculptures. His representation of Dante’s Gates of Hell are in the garden, truly deep & interesting. You’ll see the well-known “The Thinker” in the gardens, as well.

You can sit outside in the garden & each lunch – there is a little cafeteria outside.

If you are in Paris, make sure you save some time for this museum!

one of my favorite museums in paris. in addition to the beautiful landscaping and atmosphere, it’s a treat to see a lot of camille claudel’s work (which i prefer to rodin’s).

Don't recognize the modern museum in the photo  — 2 years ago

I haven’t been to the museum that is in the photo currently posted here, but I think maybe someone is mistaken, or else there is another museum I am unaware of. The Rodin Museum in Paris is intimate and in an old mansion with a lovely garden. I’ve visited the museum twice. Once with my eventual husband. he napped head in my lap with the garden surrounding us, full of sensual curves, passionate parts, carved in stone.

I couldn’t believe I was actually standing in front of “The Thinker”! It was a surreal experience, though I found it kind of difficult to move around the museum itself. It’s like walking through a really large house, but the rooms themselves are on the smaller side. In the height of summer, it can get crowded, but thankfully the weather was mild and everyone wasn’t sweaty. (note: For others who said it wasn’t crowded, I kind of wonder when you folks went because I went in July. Also, what museum is that up above in the photo?)
