If you are an architecture student or a visitor just too buzzed by the crampness of Japan, Awaji Island is the place to be.

After crossing a daunting suspension bridge in howling winds, you might consider heading to the Yumebutai International Conference Center by famous Japanese architect Ando Tadao to experience his mastery grasp of geometry, light, shadow, echo and space in a sprawling garden.

Or better yet, visit his famous Water Temple.
