Georgetown is a lot of fun – there’s a lot of cute little boutiques as well as the bigger chain stores and there’s a huge variety of places to eat – everything from Ethiopian to the standard Irish pub…it’s kind of touristy as well – not too much so, but it has its issues. It’s impossible to get a car through and insanely expensive to park. I recommend walking some of the side streets in the neighborhood, as it is one of the most beautiful historic city neighborhoods around.
For any out of town visitors, I highly recommend getting over to the DuPont Circle area as well. It’s very cool and less touristy. It doesn’t focus on the chain stores – just has smaller boutiques and really awesome restaurants. Also a few blocks down, the Adams Morgan area is great and has the best Ethiopian restaurants anywhere – it’s a real treat.over 5 years ago
