Saratoga Race Course

... I worked there. I worked there for two summers. It was a fun summer job. I also won a lot of money.

fun facts:

• there were keg parties in the employee lot every night from 6-8pm.
• you can get parking tickets in the lot, they are official but the legal system there is a tribunal.
• you’re not supposed to bet on the job.
• many teachers work there as it coincides with their time off from school.

Sure, it’s a bit strange, considering how the whole town’s identity seems to revolve around the course. But for a month in summer it’s the hottest thing around, and all the old-money society craziness is worth it, and it all eventually centers on here. I attended one Travers Stakes in my years here - great times - and I believe I saw both Angel Cordero and Willie Shoemaker race. Wonderful to see some legends at work!
