A review from the Seattle P-I

The Matador delivers Tex-Mex with a flair

By KRISTIN DIZONSPECIAL TO THE P-I

The Matador is the kind of place that’s familiar to cities like Phoenix and Dallas, but in Seattle its glossy Tex-Mex-cuisine combined with a polished atmosphere makes it stand out. It’s a bit like Tex-Mex with a prom dress and high heels on …

... and at The Matador a lot is well executed, flavorful and well priced.

I used to be there nearly every night when I lived on the West Side. Good atmosphere. A true departure from the usual in the West Seattle (although, it is changing). Certainly not the drama filled occurances as with Pogy’s or ‘Sport.

mediocre - try The Mission instead.  — 2 years ago

    Not worth it!

Food is OK, atmosphere is a little cold/sterile. Nice-looking wait staff though – I wonder if good looks are part of the job description. I prefer The Mission just down the street. Better food, more comfortable environment.

    Worth visiting!

Went here on the fifth day it was open due to Daniel knowing the owner, this fact scored us free drinks and was therefore a good reason to make the trek out to West Seattle (where I almost never go). I like the philosophy of the owner, Zack, who seems to have a knack (Zack’s knack?) for creating highly successful restaurants. The food was good and the wait staff was exceptionally attractive, and it was a nice change from the typical Capitol Hill/Belltown crowd. If I had a hot air balloon I would visit this place frequently.
