It's okay, but nice.  — 2 years ago

A little expensive for what they’re making, I go back because Dave Nakamura is such a nice guy. He’s always walking up and down the street and is always in a great mood. Frankly, that’s a big sell for me.

A new name for this place.  — 2 years ago

Slow-asis. They didn’t bring out Hodel’s food until all the rest of us were done with ours. And ours took about 43 minutes to arrive. The place wasn’t even crowded when we entered… only one other table was occupied and they got their food even slower than we did. Hodel’s food was so late that they even packaged it up in a to-go box without us asking. It’s not a big deal since it’s just a lunch spot and the food’s not bad, it’s just funny since it doesn’t make any sense how a restaurant can bungle it so consistently. I love you, Slow-asis!

When is a restaurant not a restaurant?  — 2 years ago

    Not worth it!

It’s hard to recommend a restaurant where you order food and it never arrives. I’m not talking a simple slip that makes the food arrive late, I’m talking about them serving 6 out of a party of 7 and never bringing me my food. And that was only the most egregious part of the screw up (they also forgot someone’s drink and someone else’s rice). This place is a fairly marginal pan asian restaurant to begin with, it depends on a solid lunch crowd – they can’t really afford to have lousy service. We use to eat there 1-2 a week with a crew of 7, and this is the service we got.

Japanese and Asian Cuisine  — 3 years ago

    Worth visiting!

Mostly Japanese, but also has dishes phad thai and a few other things. The bento box is huge and the amaebi don is also good.
