Not worth visiting!

A review of this place: Good food, overpriced

The food is well prepared. The prices are… optimistic, for what you get. This is a good neighborhood restaurant (if budget is not an issue), but probably not worth a trip.

A review of this place: Not the best service or atmoshphere.....but

....the food is quite good. If I go here, it is usually for takeout. The pastas are delicious.

I worked there when I was going to school at UW from 1993-1995, a time when it got voted #3 restaurant in Seattle by the P-I. It was the funnest job I’ve ever had, I still have dreams about the lasagne and everything I now know about wine started there. Beyond the fantastic fresh food that we got to partake of during a family-style dinner after each shift, I also once got to see Gary Larson at work as he drew some impromptu sketches right on the table (it was linen covered with butcher paper).

I passed through two years ago and was so glad to see how the restaurant had expanded and thrived. I was torn between the gnocchi and lasagne, but went with the lasagne. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. Good on ya, Carla and Jordi!

I went back here a while ago, and I was still a little underwhelmed, but it is difficult to say why. Some places just don’t click with some people for whatever reason. I did find the food and service good. A nearby kid poked me with his fork a couple of times, but that didn’t bother me. I probably would just rather go to Osteria La Spiga, which hardly makes Cafe Lago a bad place.

Actually, I really enjoyed the food. We had an antipasti plate (sans meats), a ravioli special, and lasagna. And I got a glass of wine. I really really really like their lasagna. It may be the best with a tomato based sauce that I have ever had, although I can remember one I had in Toronto that is pretty close.

I suppose the lasagna put me in a good enough mood to get a glass of dessert wine described “as good as it gets.” I agree; it was good. I may have to return to find out exactly what it was, because I don’t remember now.

Good italian food

I brought my 2 italian food connoisseurs (aka J and R) and they really enjoyed the food. I think we were a little underwhelmed by the decor of the place but the food was excellent. It was a tad on the pricey side for my liking but sooo good.
