Girona

Stayed here before driving up to Perpingnan in France (excuse the spelling). Friendly people, nice place to see.

Such a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. See the Turkish influence..but don’t bother to visit the Turkish bathhouse. Not interesting at all..just ruins. Take a good pair of walking shoes as you’ll be doing a lot of hiking while there.

I’ve been to Girona but spent almost all my time (one week) at Banyoles, a wonderful place for summer holydays. I would go to Girona again and visit the main city, it’s very interesing!

the ancient quarter is breathtakingly beautiful, its fiesta is wonderful, lots of lovely wee shops, some good places to eat & drink – but the catalans are a sour bunch (unless you are also catalan) and difficult to like or even get to know.

My family stopped for the night on way to Barcelona. After walking around town we stumbled on a music festival. Hot dogs and cheap beer and the bizzare mix of french rap, arabian sounds, spanish rock. After my family went back to the hotel, I snuck back and played with a drum circle, where a drunk arab didn’t seem too keen on my ability to keep a beat. Or maybe he was asking me to contribute a few coins, I dunno, my spanish is for shit.

Four hours later, walking back to the hotel, I run into my dad and sister, out looking for me. Someone woke up and I wasn’t there, so they went to the police to report me as missing. I swear, the crap I got that day.
