Beale Street

This wasn’t worth visiting unless you’re planning on eating and drinking. Otherwise, all there seems to be is a few gift shops. Seemed rather touristy.

If The Dempseys are playing on Beale Street (or anywhere) when you’re in town…GO!!! Incredibly entertaining rockabilly band. Instrument swapping, jumping about, clever banter—need I say more?

Too bad I’m not old enough to drink! There are lots of cool bars and shops.

Drunk. That’s all. Drunk. We couldn’t go to Graceland so we just searched for a mint Julep. Very hard to find on Beale St. That’s okay though, because we drank enough other stuff to make up for it and ended up sitting in Budweiser square or whatever it is and trying to sober up before driving on to Arkansas.

Really, I did pass this area up while in Memphis, but I was on a time restriction and trying to find Memphis College of Art was harder then thought.

I went to Beale street twice this year w/ my boyfriend Dustin.. we ate some GROSS BBQ at some place.. I forgot what it was called off the top of my head, but it was something Pig.. but walking around the street and listening to music was fun though!

Be sure to visit the popular restaurants and the local arcade. Though watch out for the occasional pic pocketers, I wouldnt go after 10pm, it can get pretty crazy down there.

This is the coolest place I’ve ever been in my life. Blues bands every 15 feet. Little old men in hats and suits dancing. All around a good time.

I guess this place would have been OK if I wasn’t from Chicago. It just felt hokey to me, and it is a lot smaller of an area that it is made out to be.

But do go the Peabody at 11am for duckies!

I think I was expecting too much. Plus that Marc Cohn song made it even bigger than it actually was.
