If you’re taking the train and don’t have a place to stay, go to the information center just east of the train! They will call any place you want and find you a wonderful rate. You have to pay a 10% of the room fee to them, but it’s a small price for the ease…

This is coming from a girl who had, until then, gotten off of a train and looked for a B&B. Windermere is too touristy-trendy to have B&B’s advertising that they’re open, even in the middle of the week.

Best time to visit is in April-May as you get to see the Daffodils which inspired William Wordworth to write his poem ‘Daffodils’

We want to move to the Lakes eventually. At the moment its a bit of a pipe dream and we have to make do with camping.

Watch out for the swans… they’re thugs!
