Cute shops and restrauants. Would be fun to go at the beer festival. Expensive and lots of traffic..but fun!

Good for a day trip while visiting Atlanta/north Georgia, but not worth making a whole vacation around.

I want to go to Helen back!

My husband and I recently visited Helen for a few nights. We had a lot of fun. While we were there we stayed in a little cabin up the road from Helen. We visited Unicoi State park and thought it was really beautiful. Helen is kinda touristy but a lot of fun with all the German atmosphere. Good food and Good beer!

I loved Helen! I just went this wkend, Feb 17-18 2007 and it SNOWED!!! it was such a cute little town.. romantic.. we took a horse & carriage ride, snuggled under a blanket.. we ate lots of junk like a strawberry & whipped cream funnel cake, carmel & candy apples, white chocolate covered strawberrys, and cherries & candy & more… we saw some giant icicles & SNOW!
i loved it!

I wouldn’t really want to stay longer than one night, two at the max.. we stayed at motel 6 for 40.00 w/ tax, the other places were about 85 – best western and super 8

and motel 6 was clean & had a bed, a shower, cable & a heater—all we needed for the night.

I love helen! If you go, you should definately go during Oktoberfest. It’s a great place to find unique gifts and to get in touch with your inner German.

From what I hear, it’s this really cute Bavarian-inspired town plopped in the middle of North Georgia. Every year they have an Oktoberfest, with as-authentically-German-as-you-can-get-in-Georgia beer, music and bratwurst.

Now I just need to find someone who drinks beer and eats bratwurst… or is at least willing to go along for the ride.

I had a great time in Helen. There is plenty to do, you just have to find it. There are lots of museums, a couple of tours, intertubing, shopping, eating, drinking, and plenty more things to do!

a neat little place. not much to do, but it’s a cute shopping village. they play weird german music throughout the entire town, which is actually really cool. good candy shoppes!

The town is crazy scary and packed during the summer (from what I saw), so it would probably be best to visit during off season. The falls near-by are beautiful, but you have to pay $1 a head to see them. And you can’t go close to the water, all you can do is look from the path. It is a nice area though, really pretty. It just seemed hard to avoid the tourist crowds.
