Wonderful
I went to Pagosa Springs a few Weeks ago for vacation. It was a small town but it was full of Wonders. We went to the spas and floated the San Juan River. We took the day trips to durango for a train ride & Shopping. We Experienced Mesa Verde’s canyons and views(and grandma’s fear of heights), and experienced many of the magnificent Falls in the pagosa springs area. We stayed at “Casa Del Sol” for a week and it was too short of a stay to experience everything we had hoped. It was on top of a mountain and had a beautiful view from the front and back windows. It was our family’s favorite vacation spot. We are looking forward to another trip to Colorado.

Surprisingly Wonderful
Years ago a friend of mine had me listen to a song called Wolf Creek Pass, about a truck driver who had lost his brakes coming down a steep mountain pass and finally “Bashed into the side of the feed store… in downtown Pagosa Springs”.

For years after that he would mention something about bashing into the side of a feed store in downtown Pagosa Springs.
Well imagine his excitement when I told him that on our trip to New Mexico we would be passing through [drum roll, please]... Pagosa Springs, Colorado.

Pagosa was a wonderful small town. It’s old center was very rustic.

The San Juan River runs through the city. There are a number of small natural hot springs along the river’s banks. The water from these springs feeds several small bathing pools. The river was slow and shallow when I visited. There were several people floating down the river on inner tubes and boogie boards, or just wading in the water.
The city is set in beautiful natural surroundings, amid high mountains and lush green forests, not to mention the beautiful river.
Pagosa Springs is a popular place for second homes. More than half of the homes in the area are second homes.
I even found a feed store. :-)

I grew up here
I grew up in Pagosa Springs from the time I was 8 until I was 18. At that time, I couldn’t wait to get out of there. Y’know, typical bored teenager in a small town that didn’t have much to do there.
But I have missed Pagosa Springs. Heck, I’ve missed Colorado as a whole, and I love it when I get to go back.
The last time I was there, it’d been 2&1/2 years since I’d gotten to visit and the town had changed and grown quite a bit. _ They even have a Sonic now! LoL
It’s such beautiful country there and something that was so refreshing compared to what I was used to in Texas in the summer was 1: the peace, quiet, and utter stillness and 2: the fact that the summer there wasn’t NEARLY as hot as it felt in Fort Worth. It was nice to sit on my parent’s porch swing and just gaze at the mountains in the distance.
I miss the mountains. Go skiing at Wolf Creek! It’s so much fun! And beware Alberta Face (the run that the Treasure chair lift takes you over). I haven’t skiied since I was 15, and I’ve always gone skiing at Wolf Creek. I miss skiing.
I miss the snow. I miss the fantastic fall colors.
I miss Pagosa Springs. I miss Colorado.

Used to live here
I moved from O.C. to Pagosa Springs. Big culture shock. Beautiful country. My first Christmas morning, I opened the back door and there was a deer out in the garden eating the remains of the broccoli. I loved the snow and how the flakes just floated down.
