Why I recommend this place to visitors

This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. My sister and I went on a road trip down through England from Scotland, and this was in my list of Top 3 Favourite Places that we saw. Seeing the fishing boats come in was fascinating, and climbing “Granny’s Teeth” up to the Cobb was really neat (albeit a bit scary!). The perfect water and beach against the white buildings with their colourful shutters and doors felt like a piece of the Mediterranean. I LOVED it. I want to go back!!

OMG

I had never even heard of this place until an ex told me his parents had a house there. It was the all time worst experience of my life, though not entirely at the fault of lyme regis, i was extremly unlucky! Everything that could have gone wrong did an the long and excruciating tale sounds like the script of a ben stiller date movie. It has been a legendry tale among my friends, and I will always thank it for the laughs I get retelling it.

It all started back in 1982...

When I took my first overtime money and went to England. I didn’t tell anybody, but my secret mission was to visit Lyme Regis. I took a train to Exeter, then got off the train, found the tiny bus station next to it, and sat there…

You know, sat there like Forrest Gump, waiting for a bus that never came…except that it did. The bus took me to Lyme Regis, right on the shore, the bumpiest bus ride I’ve ever had.

But I was enthralled. I had read about the place in John Fowles’ The French Lieutenant Woman, and felt I couldn’t die until I had seen it. I even found a little museum in honor of Fowles.

A really cool part of my first international trip.

It just looks like a seaside town should.

the best english holiday by the sea

ive been going to Lyme for years as my family live here and have many childhood memories. Its a great place to bring the kids, have loads of ice cream and chips and sit on the rocks. There are lots of activities on the beach during the summer, its a great small, pretty and friendly place. Used to do the carnival and we won every year!- try and catch the carnival week if you can
