Horrible area dressed up like a silk purse. by Red1332
I’ve been to Vancouver several times, but I’ve never once had a night that ended well in Gastown.
The last time I was there some crack addict broke in to our car and ripped out the stereo and stole a laptop out of our back seat. We didn’t find out until we got back to our car after having a nice dinner with my father. It was embarrassing to end the night on that note.
As we were standing there, we watched a guy break in to another car and cut the stereo out of it, twitching the entire time, then followed him down the street to a pawn shop where he sold it to someone and left. When we got back the police were there and we told them everything… and they readily admitted that the place had a lot of crime and a lot of auto break-ins, but didn’t have warning signs up because so much money came in.
I refuse to ever spend another dollar in that place after that event.
