If you follow the trail to the far side of the lake, there are lots of hidden beaches that are much more idyllic than the sandy, child-clogged beach with the lifeguards. over 5 years agoRead Thoreau then come here by Dave BeckwithPerhaps the most important pond in American history, Walden Pond is a metaphor as much as a reality…which has actually succumbed somewhat to modernity. It is still worth visiting, circumnavigating, splashing in, and reading more about. Don’t miss the other literary sites, graves, homes and such in the Concord/Lexington area. over 5 years agoPeaceful by beefbroccoliAn excellent place to go for a run and a swim afterwards. Some friends say that it gets too crowded in the summer, but I’m more amused than annoyed by the variety of people that go there. Furthermore, it’s unbeatable being in the middle of the pond when it’s sunny out. over 6 years agoGorgeous by ladybeeblebroxIt looks beautiful at twilight. Makes for a beautiful walk around the pond also. I can definitely see how Thoreau was inspired by it’s beauty. I’ve actually written a few things there myself. over 6 years agoSee all 9 entries |
