News about this place

My new backyard… I just moved to Manhattan’s Financial District. Just east of Broadway/Park Row there is this North/South alleyway between Beakman and Ann Street.

This was New Yorks first one way street. The carriages taking theatergoers used to have traffic jams on this narrow road before they made it one way only.

It was called The Mews back then, in 1798 when the Park Theatre opened up with a performance of As You Like It

Another famous One Way in Brooklyn
was depicted in Walk Away Renee by the baroque rock musicians, The Left Banke.
