I wish I had a motorcycle. Specifically, the green one that looks black to me. You’ll have to go to the museum to see which one.
This museum is really for anyone who has ever made engine noises with their mouth (you know who you are), and it’s really much better than it sounds. My daughter (1 year old) was probably a little too young to get the whole experience, but she enjoyed many parts of it.
The best part of the museum is the staff. They are knowledgeable about motorcycles and genuinely like kids. The staffers I ran into were armed with temporary tatoos to help the kids fit in with the older crowd.
The centerpiece of the museum is Harley-Davidson’s motorcycle collection, which is really unique. Since 1915 the company has been saving one of each production model every year. As a result, visitors can see the very first H-D motorcycle ever made and view the progress from beginning to today’s motorcycles.
Save for the exhibit that explains how a motorcycle works, there isn’t much in the way of interactivity. But there is multimedia done only the way that Harley-Davidson can.
There is also a gift shop, cafe and restaurant. Overall, I thought admission was a little over-priced, but then I’m not a huge motorcycle enthusiast. I went through the museum in an hour and a half. Older children might last longer. Genuine enthusiasts could make a whole day of it.
