Cute little place on Munjoy Hill by MFM
Just off the Eastern Prom on Congress Street is this Munjoy Hill restaurant. Tonight 6 of us had dinner there and we pretty much took the place over. It has a Mediteranean sensibility and the menu has plenty of choices but not overwhelmingly so.
The bread basket was a flower pot and the olive oil was peppery and abundant. I started with a roasted mushroom salad on arugula with a honey vinaigrette. Other people at the table had the house salad that had goat cheese, green apple and toasted almonds – it looked nice. There was a meze plate of cheeses, olives and flatbread that a couple of people shared.
As my main I chose 2 starters – an excellent little tomato tart on phyllo and fresh figs stuffed with manchego cheese then wrapped in prosciutto and grilled. There were 4 or 5 served with tiny raspberries for $5.
Great prices, inventive food, decent portions and a clean and interesting ladies room.
