Buena Vista Cafe

Stumbled across this place, then later learned its history. Birthplace of Irish Coffee.

The food’s mediocre and overpriced, but decent enough. You want Irish Coffee.

I’m surprised that no one has mentioned this San Francisco classic yet. This the place where Irish coffee was invented, and there’s nothing better than a nice breakfast at the Buena Vista, complete with beautiful views of the Bay, and the Golden Gate Bridge. The Buena Vista is located near Fisherman’s Wharf, on Beach Street, just opposite the terminus of the Powell-Hyde streetcar line.

It’s old school San Francisco, and always the first place I go on my first morning in the city.
