Worth visiting!
I would love to go to Canmore once a year. I once went to eat at this great vegetarian restaurant, I tried tofu and mushroom ravioli, it was so good. Also loved the Rocky Mountain Soap.

What a cute little town, its really thriving though. Lots of buildings going up.
I ate at Luna Blue for dinner and it was amazing, such great pastas and this amazing yam, apple, ginger coconut soup.
great staff too

We went to Canmore for two things: cross-country skiing and hoping for decent food. We got both. We rented skis at the Canmore Nordic center for several days running, which worked for us. Along with skiing there at the Canmore center, we also made it to Mt. Shark and to Lougheed National Park, both of which had groomed and mostly empty trails with sufficient snow to ski in March. Many of the trails at the Nordic center were closed due to insufficient snow.
We also enjoyed our meals, particularly at Luna Blue, Zona’s Late Night Bistro, and Crazy Weed Kitchen. More details at full blog entry
Finally, we found a lovely little climbing gym. There was no top-roping, but the bouldering was significantly better than we’ve seen in the gyms around our own home.

A hiking wonderland, and a much better destination than Banff

This is a great place to stay and you can likely get a better deal in a hotel than you would get in Banff.
It’s just a 20 minutes drive from Canmore to Banff.
have fun,

What a place to spend a summer. Great places to climb. Bring good friends and a sense of adventure!
One of my favorite places in the whole world.

We own a condo in Canmore that we rent to vacationers while we’re wandering aroung the world (through Bow Valley Bedfinders, if you’re interested). It’s a lovely place, quiet and peaceful if that’s what you like but also with a bit of a night life and pleasant bars and eateries. There’s something to do any time of the year. You can ski in the winter, of course, but the rest of the year you can hike or bike or just stand there and gawk at the scenery. And if you decide you need a bit of city life Calgary is an hour away. Don’t miss it!

And many, many, many more, I’m sure. It’s a piece of my soul, really.
As a matter of fact, I’ll be heading up there this Saturday for a girls’ weekend getaway.
Glorious place.

when i was nine years old or so, i was visiting my grandfather who lived and worked in canmore at the time. steping out onto the porch, i looked up to see the three sisters mountain and swore that one day i would make my home here.
i better make it quick because the place is getting darn expensive!
