Cheddar Gorge sunrise was part of a weekend in Somerset at the Swallet Farm (http://www.swallet.co.uk), which is a great training facility for teams!

Started out this morning at about 6 A.M. to see the sun rising over the gorge and enjoy the scenery. Follow the path from the parking in Cheddar, up Jacob’s Ladder (all 237 steps) to the top and to the left through the gate. Continue walking for about a kilometer to reach the top of Cheddar Gorge.

Cheddar Caves  — 2 years ago

    Worth visiting!

I vistited the Caves but not the normal showcaves – I went with a group of people on a organised trip around the parts of the cave that people don’t normally get to see (via their “RockSport” arm).
I’ve only been caving once or twice before when I was still at school and I wanted to see if I would still enjoy the caving.

This involved getting kitted out in a boilersuit, helmet & light, etc. and then traveling up into the caves (oddly for a cave, these caves mostly go up into the side of the Gorge rather than down underground).

We spend about an hour crawling about and climbing up and down various parts of the cave (we were safely clipped onto a roap around any areas that there was a drop).
Our guide was good fun too.

It was an amazing experiance and one I would like to do again.
If you haven’t tried caving – I’d definately recommend it!
