I was going to be in Antiqua on my birthday so I planned a trip with a couple friends to Montserrat—for the day! We took the ferry over (cheaper than the helicopter, but takes longer and if you are prone to seasickness this might not be an option). We had made arrangements for a driver to meet us in the harbor. He took us to pick up the minister of agriculture for the Island and with the two of them as guides we went hiking and were able to taste the fresh almonds from the trees. I have to recommend tasting the almonds! They make a lot of dishes with them and fresh almonds will spoil you.
We then visited the Montserrat Volcano Observatory. This was since the eruption (but before the most recent one).
Overall it was a really nice day. We took the helicopter back and that was a very nice way to go! I’d definitely recommend it at least one-way if you cannot do it round trip. The view of Antigua from the air is also beautiful as you return to Jolly Harbor.over 6 years ago
