KAYAKING  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

I took an AMAZING 2-night guided kayak trip in Abel Tasman in 2004. The scenery was spectacular – just as advertised. Camping out on a sugary beach after having kayaked the ‘mad mile’ was heavenly. I would highly recommend both kayaking and hiking Abel Tasman to ALL!

I did my first Kayak-Tour here and it was, well… very wet, salty, exhausting and just amazing!

Wow, spectacular. I should have gone here more often when I lived in NZ. It’s true you never really know what you have until you leave it behind.

This beautiful national park is right on my back door step! It only takes me 20minutes to get to the begining of the track. Its so popular, so best to come in off season, I go a few times a year.. sometimes I go with my family and boat into one of the many, golden sanded eqxuisite beaches and then we hike back to the begining…absolutely worth doing if you get down here..

Great adventure!  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

I spent a week here in March kayaking and backpacking the trail. Fantastic scenery and we often had beautiful beaches all to ourselves. Kayaking was the best part, you get to see a lot of amazing things and places you can’t reach from the trail.

The Abel Tasman National Park is a must see if you are going to the South Island. Sea kayaking here is a pleasure and the tramping tracks are endless.
I would not recommend doing it in summer..too hot..too many people..its much more peaceful and just as warm in Autumn (April – June)

Bark Bay  — 3 years ago

Worth visiting!

We arrived at the hut in Bark Bay about 20 mins before a 5 hour downpour. Lovely spot to watch the rain. Do the walk. Spend 3 nights. You can do it faster but what’s the hurry?
