A tip I have about this place  — 1 month ago

    Worth visiting!

Windsor is a beautiful city, and the Castle is nice to go through. Just don’t get in the way of the “Changing of the Guard”. I was not paying attention, and almost got run over by several of them! They don’t stop. I didn’t know this!

How this place changed my life  — 4 months ago

    Worth visiting!

Going to England was a life dream. I went and it was as if a camera came into focus, it felt like being home. I love the people and felt very comfortable. I intend to live there one day. Windsor Castle is quite a surprise, it sits right on the sidewalk, almost.

I have been there and is very awesome place, I have a few pictures as well from there, to bad I did them with my phone and not with a camera, but next time I get a camera,

my sister used to work as a cook at the castle, I stayed with her once, she had a little flat in the basement of a house in the grounds, and I remember she opened a door in the sitting room which led to a maze of underground coridoors, and propped up against the wall was a plywood coffin.

Very Spooky, apprently they used it for funeral rehearsals…

Oh and apparently the dignataries always half-inched the cutlery…

Windsor Castle is quite large, but still charming. The town of Windsor is equally charming.

There are a fair number of rooms and buildings open to visitors at Windsor Castle. Though a large percentage are off limits. After all, this is the preferred living quarters for the Queen. So it’s nice to see a living castle.

They don’t let you take photos inside which is a bummer.

Ok, so here it is…if you go to Windsor castle…you have to get your picture with the beefeaters (the guards with the tall fuzzy hats), they will be in your picture, but I must warn…don’t step into the little box they are standing in, you may think they won’t move, but it’s not true

Visiting Henry VIII  — 2 years ago

    Worth visiting!

On my first trip to England, I wanted to visit the grave of Henry VIII, as he was a personality who loomed large in my childhood. So, I searched and searched all through Westminster Abbey for him, only to learn (when I finally asked), that he wasn’t there. He was here, in Windsor. It took me several years to get out here, but on one of my trips to London when I lived in the U.K., I took a day and hopped on the train out to see this castle. It was a great place to visit, and yes, I finally did find old Hal.

Great castle, especially if you are into Brittish Royalty. If you are more of a knights and swords kinda person, Warwick is better.

Go with London Walks  — 2 years ago

    Worth visiting!

I visted Windsor Castle with the Original London Walks which offers a day-tour from London covering Windsor and nearby Eton. A day is a perfect amount of time to visit Windsor. It was a wonderful and inexpensive day trip. My 11-year old neice was with me and she loved it too.

I went in June, and the gardens were beautiful and the weather wasn’t too bad either. I thought the town nearby was almost as interesting to explore as the castle, and supposedly the Queen was in the castle and waved to the visitors! I missed it though. :(
