I loved Aegina because, even though my tour group went on the whole one day cruise thing, we got off and stayed the night here. The hotel was probably the nicest hotel I’ve ever been to, aside from when you ask for water they give you salt water so you have to pay for bottled water, and salt water in the snower. Watching Greek Deal or no Deal in the hotel was fun and a bunch of us went to the beach bar. Having some time on the beach was fun, a nice relaxing day.

Aegina is a very beautiful small island with ALOT of history. I have been going there for many years since a young child and I also lived in greece for eight years. Although I’ve visited many other greek islands, I personally prefer this one the best. It is very close to athens and worth the trip to judge for yourselves!

A review of this place

This was our last stop on a 3 island day trip from the mainland. Famous for the world’s best postachios (true) and the only place in Greece where I could find a chocolate crepe!

A tip I have about this place

I did the whole day cruise thing to Aegina, Hydra, and Poros, and honestly, all three islands looked the same and none stood out at all to me. If I do another Greek island cruise, I’m for sure going farther out in the Aegean Sea to actually see some island diversity. It is beautiful though.

A tip I have about this place

Try climbing Mt. Elannion (Aegina’s highest peak), going from Aegina to Perdika by bike or on foot (could take a couple of hours on foot) and visit Marathonas beach on the way! Definitely. Also, if you like remote places, grab a tiny ferry from Perdika and go to Moni. There’s an abandoned hotel there, as well as deer, kri-kri, and peacock populations. Again, try the climb to they very top of the island!

Picture above is Moni, taken from the boat going to it.
