Brentwood

Don’t come here—we have too much traffic already >O.

There’s nowhere else I’d rather live. Would you want to visit it just to sightsee? Probably not. But it’s quiet, comparatively speaking, beautiful, clean, comfortable, has awesome primary/secondary education, and still has a modern feel to it. Unfortunately it is being developed somewhat quickly, so get there while you can before it’s all concrete.

and it used to be a much more interesting place.

What is now endless miles of concrete and malls used to be beautiful green farmland. “Maryland Farms,” before it was an office park, was a scuzzy little track where racehorses were trained, usually to run in some other state (parimutual betting was illegal in TN). The Farms were rife with colorful characters, though.

The Huff brothers used to smoke wonderful country hams here, not too far from where Red Lobster is today (ugh.)

I imagine Brentwood is a pleasant place to live today — they’ve got paved roads, and city water, and all that stuff, which is very nice, but it used to be interesting and now it could be anywhere in America, anywhere that has malls and parking lots.

…but it seemed like just another suburb. I’m sure, with time, there are some interesting things to be seen.
