Algonquin Provincial Park

My husband is from Orillia and keeps telling me that we need to visit this place. It must be a truly wonderful place if he loves it so much!

This is quite possibly my favorite place in the world. Yup.

I went on a portage trip, thru the interior, with my high school Outers Club. It was so much fun, my first time portaging, I couldn’t have asked for a better place to go. You don’t realize how big it is until you get up there and going from lake to lake, sleeping on sites found on islands. It is one amazing place!! It’s been almost 8 years since I went and I’ve been dying to go back since…

I’ve been camping here numerous times, it’s gotta be one of the most beatiful places on earth!!

I spent an amazing week in Algonquin. Awesome trails and rad beaches. The lakes are great at night ;) ;)

This park is my second home. I visit all year round and love the area. I grew up in Kearny, a small town just west of the park off hwy 11. This area just feels like my true home. I often take the weekend to go up kayaking or hiking and often take my Jeep in the back roads for a self guided tour. It’s great just kayaking out into an island on Opeongo and reading a book; or just floating on the lake for hours. I have countless stories about Algonquin, and hope to have many more.

And don’t come out for a week. Get away from cell phones, computers, cars, electricity and just listen to the quiet. You might not see a single soul for a couple days… except maybe the occasional moose (if you’re lucky) or bear (if you’re unlucky)

I went for a weekend canoeing with friends. For English boys used to not a whole lotta wilderness it was fantastic. Pieceful, beautiful an just the right level of challenging.

My friends and I go on the same trip year after year to stay in touch and ‘reconnect with nature’.
