Big Bear, California is a great place to take your family and friends to see snow during the winter in Southern California. I went there for the first time last week and I really enjoyed my stay because seeing snow and living in a place that snows isn’t what I’m used to.
Some of the things you could do in Big Bear are snowboarding or skiing at Bear Mountain or Snow Summit. During the peak season/weekends, I’d recommend getting to those mountains early to get good parking. If you come late to Bear Mountain, you will have to park a little farther and take a free ride on a truck or bus to the mountain. Bear Mountain also offers a free bus ride to Snow Summit and back. If you are more interested in doing something relaxing, you can easily make snow angels or snow people and go sledding at various places around Big Bear. Just make sure to check if there are any signs that say “No Trespassing” if you don’t want to break any laws. There are also several shops you could browse or eat at a restaurant of your choice in Big Bear Village…
I’d have to say that just being in a totally different environment than what I’m used to made this place worth visiting. Taylor pretty much summed up how I felt about the snow in this entry (so true about snow creating silence).
