Walk through the rainforest on whatever trail you want, though I recommend the giants staircase. Awesome!!! Echo point has some beautiful views too.

Last time i came here I caught the train to katoomba and camped at a nearby lookout under the stars. the next day I Hiked into the jamison valley, up Mt SOlitary and camped there for the night. After the morning kuffufel of packing up we walked past the ruined castle and up bloody furbers steps out and along past the YHA and caught the train home.
It was a ggreat hike and i would recomend it for anyone over the age of about 15-17!

Orsum place, with great views. Bush walking recommended.

A review of this place: Australian nature at its best  — 1 year ago

I stayed in Katoomba for a few days – some welcome peace and quiet after Sydney.

My favourite place in the area was the Jenolan Caves: I spent the best part of two days there going on the various cave tours, occasionally surfacing for some sunshine and fresh air.

Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys beautiful scenery, stalls and markets, open log fires, cold weather, art and crafts, fresh fruit, vegetables and flowers.

The locals are very friendly and always willing to help with directions.

The Three Sisters are amazing! The Scenic Train is great – except i didnt enjoy it cause i am petrified of trains and insects and darkness!!! And that is what you will encounter!!

Overall, great place to visit – would recommend it to people over 40 who are more appreciative of the scenery and the boutiques.

I went with my mum and she absolutely loved it! And she went mad at all the patchwork shops!!!

Don’t go on a day tour from Sydney. You need at least a week to fully experience this area. There is so much more than Three Sisters to see if you just take the time.

its BLOODY cold in the winter, and the hills are a killer, the views are great and riding on the top of the train is the most fun!

I hiked down to the bottom of the canyon. There were stairs… lots and lots of stairs to the bottom. I hate to keep using the same word, but when I think of Australia the word “magical” is the best fit. I long for the day when I can return.

Do a day trip that involves some hiking time and a trip on the mining car.
