TD Banknorth Garden aka: Fleetcenter, Boston Garden

For the size that it is, this place just sounds great. Most big venues are pretty crappy experiences. I have seen Phish and Dane Cook here and both shows felt like you were part of the show… even from high above the stage.

Sigh. I remember feeling sad when they renamed the Garden to “The Fleet Center” when I was in high school. With its new new name, I didn’t even recognise it here on 43places. I’m sure TD Banknorth is a great company, but there’s something unseemly about renaming things that already have names. I’d rather the powers-that-be would just keep it’s real name—The Garden.

Incidentally, for anyone getting to here from outside the city, this is right next to North Station, where all the commuter trains get in. Even after the Big Dig, it’s easier to get in and out by train, if that’s an option for you.

We saw the Flyers play the Bruins there when the building was still called FleetCenter.
