Seaside
How this place changed my life — 1 year ago
I lived in seaside for 17 years. The only thing Seaside inspired me to do was work my ass off the get the hell out of there. And I have. Mission accomplished.

Check out the boardwalk. Cute shops, saltwater taffy, and a statue commerating the end of the Lewis and Clark expedition. The ocean is beautiful, too.

To me, Seaside is the quintessential little coastal town. I love the little shops, the saltwater taffy, food stands, arcade, and the beach fun with kites and beach cruisers. It really is adorable. Don’t expect a hot beach with turquoise waters though, this is the Oregon COAST.

Woohoo, it’s fun. You can go chill at the beach or go play games in the arcade, enjoy an oceanview from your hotel room, go shopping at all the little shops, and rad stuff like that.

play in the water. even if it is only up to your ankles. The freezing cold water is exhilirating. You can feel the icebergs from alaska in your bones!

I won a radio contest: Fly to Portland, OR for a big music fest. My husband couldn’t go, so I invited my best friend Donna. We were supposed to go to this big alternative music fest and follow this boring agenda and we decided it wasn’t for us. So we rented a car, found our own music scene the night we got there and the next morning drove to the coast, ending up in Seaside. It was the most beautiful unplanned drive I’ve ever taken. I’ve wanted to return since.

Though I was only able to stay one night, I am going back next summer for sure! Kind of reminded me of Santa Cruz, CA. People are laid back and you can walk just about anywhere.
Candy shops! Tons of entertainment for kids. The kidlets will be talking about it for a long time. There are paddle boats you can take on the little river by the sea. There are some bridges over the river- A very little bit like Venice. Bicycle rentals etc.
The sand was so soft and warm. Great sandcastle sand. It was cool when the rest of the West was over 100 degrees.

Had a great trip to Seaside and Mcminamins Edgfield for 4th of July. Read about it at my website http://www.toadhead.com/travel/edgefield_seaside.html

I was born there and lived there for quite a few years, so Seaside to me is not really a vacation to me, more like an old stomping ground.
Norma’s is WONDERFUL, and if you go in on your birthday/wedding night or anything like that – they may just give you a wonderful desert for free :)
