day trip to London by MolkoMagic

Just walking past, or rather in the mid-day shadow of, that great timepiece itself, I suddenly felt even smaller than usual. But it was awesome, cos, although I’m a Brit, i’ve only been to London three times in my 16 years of life, and it was well worth it. Went to the Embankment afterwards and there the real fun started!

oh and AGAMUM, I knew that rather bizarre fact on a boat ride down the Thames.

I live very close to Parliament and have seen it at pretty much every angle and time of day. For people who’re only in London for a short time – go late at night. No one’s around and it’s beautifully lit up. As a general rule in fact: 3am is the best time to see London. You get it all to yourself and can really be submersed in its feel and history.

I never thought it was so lovely!!

Seeing it in a picture is not like seeing it live!

Really impressive!!

I was gobsmacked to learn that Big Ben is really the Large Bell inside of the Clock Tower. Looking at the Tower you can’t see Big Ben ~ you can only hear him!

Aaah, dear Big Ben. To Brits, Big Ben is inextricably linked with 2 things – the ITV News At Ten (which incorporates the chimes – or “bongs” as we call them – into the opening sequence) and the countdown to New Year’s Day.

Plus, it looks beautiful lit up at night :)
