A tip I have about this place  — 4 weeks ago

    Worth visiting!

Be sure to get the cassette player and tape when you go inside. It is very confusing otherwise. There is so much to see, and you may miss some really interesting things otherwise. It is certainly worth visiting. Try going when there is not a tour group going through. Or better yet, go to one of the services.

...to think of all the dead and famous people buried/interred here. From kings to poets to actors to musicians, our tour guide was very helpful in making the place come alive and make things interesting. He spoke about various topics from the architecture to the history of the abbey to recent and modern events going on. Definitely recommended if you go to London.

Talk about sensory overload! There’s so much going on—visually—you can’t even take it in! Definitely put Westminster Abbey on the top of your must-see list in London—there are so many historic figures laid to rest here (including Chaucer! CHAUCER!) and you could wander around the gardens all day long. Like the Tower of London, the centuries of history are just overwhemling.

Mary Queen of Scots!  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

I went here just to see Mary Queens of Scots grave. It was really really interesting, and I love reading about her. It was great for a creepy, disturbing reason to know that WOW Mary is in that coffin! haha, Poets Corner was great, but yeah, it can get confusing if you don’t go about it in an organized manor!

some random crusty old tramp started giving me and my friend an impromptu tour of the area around the abbey – and told us to enter thru the exit to avoid the lines… he was the best thing that happened to us that day… but he kept wanting to have me thrown into the river (or at least that’s most of what i understood)... but all the stories he told had me cracking up… if you find him, just go along for the ride…

If you can, get a tour guide. The first time I went, I walked in and within minutes was overwhelmed by everything there is to look at inside. Get a guide to give you the highlights, otherwise your brain may explode. Don’t get me wrong…It’s a great, place. Can’t get enough of it.

I went to one of the Christmas masses here in 1994 and it was a really great experience (for an agnostic).

It was my first day in London. Still remember the kiss I witnessed just right in front of Westminster Abbey.

    How sweet!
