Punta Gorda

it’s worth a visit when you are in the area. another quiet and peaceful place….

not necessarily a great place to spend your entire vacation, but you should at least visit here for one day, and then head south to fort myers or head north to sarasota for the remainder of your vacation. i stayed at a hotel here pre-hurricane charley and it was very nice. the best western waterfront always had an active nightclub, fine dining, warm hospitality, and a great pool right on the beautiful peace river. the downtown is also very charming, and the fisherman village shops (further west) are also highly recommended. this town got a severe beating (including bulldozing of whole city blocks including the holiday inn – its other hotel). this town is coming back though, i can feel it. visit sometime.

i was a bit too harsh at first. i’ll be nicer.
