Kitty Hawk

I went down to Kitty Hawk for a week lasty month with my grandparents. I didn’t get to see a lot of the places I was hoping to see since the gas was a lot and they didn’t want to go to the places but, I’m sure I’ll see them next time.

I went when Tropical Storm Ernesto waqs heading towards the state so the waves on the beaches were huge and they would not let you swim in the ocean at all. The waves which were huge, even in low tide, washed all the shells out to sea so I never got to bring one home.

I did, however, see the Wright Brother’s Memorial. It was so beautiful. They sat in the car while I walked around and took pictures and got a huge book on the Wright Brothers.

I wanted to go hang gliding but they freaked out when I mentioned it. Oh well, next time I go.

And just a little tip: I wouldn’t trust the weather down their too much. When I was down there, it was TERRIBLE where we were and it was sunny where the boat was and we missed the boat to go fishing and wasted $180 on nothing.

Kitty Hawk, and all of the Outer Banks area, is a very up and coming “quiet your mind and soothe your soul” retreat. There is alot of great laid back activity stuff to do here—and of course there is the beach. Whether you are up for a physical challenge or just out for a drive, you will find the place to be incredibly relaxing. Combine the small beach village atmosphere with all the aerospace history and you have yourself quite a fun and funky little place to be. Make sure you grab yourself some Carolina BBQ and some fresh seafood treats—and yes, parasailing and hang gliding! Thanks to my friends flawless recommendations, we have found lots of new really cool places here to bring the family. KEYTRAVELNOTE: Get in good with the locals and they can give you a heads up on all the best places in town to play, relax, and eat.

Anyone who has ever flown owes it to themselves to go to the birthplace of aviation. There is something magical about standing at the exact spot where man first flew, while commercial jets pass overhead.
