Champs Elysees  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

Gotta love le Tour. I was lucky enough to catch the final laps on the Champs Elysees last year, where Thor Hushovd took victory on the famed cobbles. The image of the race has been marred following the Landis doping scandal, however the pro peleton is cleaning up its act.

Go spectate. I couldn’t recommend it more!

Why I want to go to this place  — 1 year ago

I have been following the Tour de France for 5 years now and it has always been my dream to watch it live. Finally, my dream will come true this July. I will be joining a tour group and will be following the Tour during the Alps and Pyrenees stages. I chose those stages because the mountain stages rock!!!

    I’m really excited!

Last year I watched the Tour De France come in on the main street it finishes on, I think its where the posh shops are cuz i remember the big Louis Vitton briefcase stuck to the buiding, but it was worth staying there for the atmosphere … even though I did end up trying to argue in french with a random woman … it was fun but impossible lol

Best experience of my life  — 2 years ago

A buddy and I went to the 2nd half of the 2005 Tour de France. We brought our bikes and did it completely self-guided, with our own rental car and hotels.

A typical day was riding in the morning, watching the tour in the afternoon and then fine dining in the evening. Of course the Tour takes you through a lot of quaint small towns and scenic countryside. I definitely figured my way around the country, so we rarely got lost.

Now that Lance isn’t racing I’d like to watch some of the mountain stages in person. Nothing against Lance I just don’t want to pay premium rates for travel and lodging.

Not Really a Place  — 3 years ago

But a big enough cultural event it deserves mention…
