Haven’t been in Ouro Preto in maybe 20 years but it was a really lovely colonial town – The rest of the colonial sites also but Ouro Preto was just beautiful – Aleijadinho was right up there with the Italians or who ever- Really something – Try to stay in a small pousada {inn} – It’s another brasil .

There in Ouro Preto we can see a little bit of the story of our story, there are beautiful churches, including Aleijadinho´s. I went there with school, we went see more about baroche and there we golden leaves on the churche´s walls… We learn it in school, its something completly unbelievable. But it´s real. Can you imagine? Golden leaves! Worth visiting, theres too much history in there!

I went to Ouro Preto with 3 persons and came back from there with my notebook full of numbers from very sweet people. The best time to go is in the mid of the year (June-July) because its when happens the “Winter Festival” and it is reeeeeally cool! There are also very good places to eat and pubs, the residents are sweet. the hot place there is Rua (street) Direita.

Ouro Preto is the best preserved historic city in Brazil. It has a lot of history, as it can be attested just by walking on the narrow and steep streets. It’s a good place to visit just to have a good time – it has so much that can be seen: coffee shops, popular artists, good food, all with reasonable prices. It’s also a good place for a romantic trip, just to stay there. But the most important, it’s a place to feel connected with the past – with brazilian history. So much has happened there that you can still feel it, be it in the museums, be it in the streets. It’s a living history lesson, and at this, it can’t be beaten by any other place in Brazil.
